I Give You My Hat

Hi Friends,

Happy Spring! I have a fun present for you.

I’ve developed a big obsession with knitting over the last few months. Super therapeutic and a great way to wind down and relax. It’s very similar to yoga in repetition and meditative qualities. I’ve been spending loads of time on airplanes traveling all over the globe and making hats has been a really nice way to ease the air time, have some fun, and end up with a unique creation every few hours. On the international flights I have been known to walk in with a bag of WoolandtheGang yarn and out with a bag of hats. I can only wear one hat at a time and don’t really like to collect a lot of baggage, so giving the hats away to friends, family, and strangers turned new friends, has become one of my favorite things to do.

So here’s the present part!

I made a pretty light and sherpa blue stripped hat from alpaca WATG and I’m giving it away!

How to get it.

Subscribe to my newsletter if you’re not already. I give away presents once a week and other goodies.

Leave a comment in this video and let me know why you want the hat.

I’ll pick someone and ship it out to you ASAP!

Having a hunch this giveaway might be a request for a repeat and don’t worry. I knit a lot so will have more to giveaway soon!

Me & You Yoga Time!

Just a reminder April 1st is coming up and we’re getting ready to do yoga together for 1 month!

Find out more here if you’re not already in and psyched!

xo

  • Hello! First of all, just got 4 of your DVD’s in the mail and I’m super pumped. I would be more pumped to get a hat though! I live in Michigan, which likes to be freezing all the time, and I adore hats. Since I nanny, my girls end up taking my hats all the time and I’ve ran out of my supply! I also am getting into knitting and would love a piece from someone who knows what they’re doing to compare to. Thanks for doing this! :) <3

Why do I need this hat?
    let’s think
First – this is because this morning I woke up and I really wanted to get a gift. And I came to you on the website and realized – this is it!
Second – I believe in miracles. And since I live far away (in the Ukraine)what if I get this hat as a gift – it will confirmation that miracles exist ^_^
Third – in our area and quite cold on demand tuple cool wool hats from the best yoga teachers of all time ever

    Whatever

    Thank you a lot!
    You a really cool!
This words came from my heart!
All you’re doing – it’s great and happy. And it brings a lot of pleasant emotions around the world! Trust me!

    Hi Tara,
Thankyou for opening my eyes to Yoga, it makes me feel great, and helps me destress and unwind from all my college work.
I love knitted things, they are always so warm and comfy and very pratical for British weather (Brrr!), it would be a symbol of inspiration to stay connected to myself.
Thankyou for your help and for always being positive. :)

So my first thought, is that I feel bad asking for something that someone else may need more than I do… but I couldn’t pass up writing a comment as I wanted to let you know what an inspiration you are to me. I think you are totally cool. I love your posts, photos, recipes, advice, everything. Your approach is so easy and refreshing and forgiving. I am working in more yoga in my day, and I too have started knitting- I love it. My family is going to have more scarves than they’ll know what to do with. I am very excited to start with you on April 1st. I am really hoping that sometime soon I can come and take your class in person. Thank you for all that you do.

I would love to have your hat…

I would love to have that hat! Nothing would be greater than to receive a hat from an inspired knitter! I, too, am a knitter and have given away everything I have ever made and now I am hatless in Connecticut!
~side note; thank you for believing in your talent and gift and for giving so selflessly. I nearly gave up on yoga because I couldn’t find a teacher I could relate to. I think I have been doing yoga in some form since exiting the womb but never had the confidence to move in a way that was authentic to me. You have given yoga back to me and I am forever grateful. “The breath IS the pose”; brilliant!

Hey Tara! First of all I love the hat. I would really love to get the hat because it’ll be a reminder to me that your yoga pretty much saved my life and my downward spiral to depression. Yoga has taught me to be intuned to my body, and its given me a reason to wake up each morning with a smile on my face. And having a hat specially made by you would be an awesome reminder of what your dvds did for me ;) xoxo

    Hi Tara!

First of all, thank you for convincing me to get a juicer. It’s the greatest thing in the whole entire world. Second thing, I’m a yoga instructor here in Clarkston, Michigan and it’s super cold still and a new winter hat to keep my ears warm might be just what I need! I have all of your books and DVDs and I just love practicing yoga with you! (on youtube of course..I’m dying to come to Strala though). Thank you for all that you do! You are such an inspiration! And I’m looking forward to Spring Training in April! <3

    Sarah :)

Ditto, Tara talked me into getting a juicer so I could try the “All hail the kale” juice… now I have juice everyday and the kale is my fav! Thx!

  • I adore hats..
I get told I suit every type of hat…
It gets chilly in NZ in winter…which is coming up…
    I adore hats….;)
    I collect wooly hats…ESP beanies….
It would also be a useful tea cosy :)
I love wearing a hat in shavasana and pulling it down over my eyes as it creates comfort & this one in particular would rock as it’s super long….
    Did I mention I adore hats…
    Xx

  • Yoga is awesome, you are awesome, and soft things are awesome! Having a lucious hand-knitted hat on my head would just make my entire day even more enjoyable after a morning yoga routine! Plus, it’s 30 degrees outside and my head is cold :(

  • Wow Tara, You did a great job with the hat! My Mom could knit the most beautiful things but I never learned how. Since reading your posts I have started doing bunches of new things. Thank you! You have a calming way of communicating to your readers.

Its spring and it’s snowing in Philadelphia. A hat would be perfect.

I actually am in dire need of a beanie. I’ve been wanting one for ages.

Hi Tara! A few months ago I stumbled across your interview with mindbodygreen and fell in love with you! I love your philosophy and continually feel inspired to live a life of ease.

I developed daily chronic migraines nearly two years ago. They were so severe that I began seeing a neurologist on a bi-weekly basis trying different drug therapies and finally even Botox treatment. Nothing gave though. It wasn’t until I turned to meditation and yoga that I finally saw a difference in how I felt. Instead of loading my body with drugs after the onset of a headache, I learned how to prevent them from happening.

In a lot of ways, yoga has saved my life. I used to get panic attacks which contributed to worse headaches, but now I know how to breathe and release tension in my life. When I discovered your work at Strala, read your books, and started living by your philosophies, I felt such a difference! So now I am taking the opportunity to thank you (this seems like such a perfect chance).

So why would I love to have your hat?

Well first off, you made it! I am a college student living in Michigan, so it’s not hard to guess that I’ll need it, and when I wear it, I’ll be reminded of how far that I’ve come and how important it is to take care of my noggin (as well as the rest of me). Last but not least, it will always remind me of you! My inspiration :)

Sending all kinds of love and happiness your way!

tara! fellow yogi lady! i’m in sydney, australia and I think the approaching winter is the perfect reason i should get the wonderful beanie. I also find a warm head in the winter months whilst practising shavasana…in my bed…underneath my duvet a good addition to my collection of head warmers.

My head will thank you forever in this hopelessly cold (not!) country of mine. lots of love! xxx Ondine

  • It will go well with my brown sweater during the cold weather.:)

    Hey Tara

I would love the hat at it is home made and looks really cool :) I live in England which is freezing at the moment so I would get a lot of use out of it.

I got the 4 set of yoga dvds delivered last week and was a little scared as I have never done yoga before but I have now become obsessed. I like the way that your style of yoga puts me at ease and makes it chilled and fun so thank you :)

    Love Kelly xx

could definitely use a tuque for the upcoming ski season in new zealand! y’know, breaking out a headstand in 1m of snow would be much easier with warm ears :)
